Check-in: • You will receive a copy of the house keys (the replacement fee is €35). • You will be asked to provide a copy of your passport/ID before your arrival, as well as your full home address and an emergency contact detail. • Registration at the Commune is not allowed.
House Entrance: • Please make sure the front door is firmly closed when entering/leaving. • Please take your shoes off downstairs and wear slippers in the house. • Please turn off all lights in the staircase when entering/leaving. • Feel free to leave your bike at the entrance. • Please do not let ANYONE in the house without my prior consent.
Room: • The room contains basic amenities such as clean bedding, fresh towels, and kitchen utensils. Feel free to use them at your convenience, but make sure they are kept clean. • We kindly ask guests to respect quiet time after 10 PM, and to refrain from taking showers, cooking, speaking loudly on the phone, or listening to music after 10 PM. • It is strictly forbidden to smoke (!). If you need to smoke, please do so outside the house. Candles and incense are totally prohibited. • When you leave your rooms for the day and for longer periods, please turn to heat and lights off. • We operate on a trust basis, and doors cannot be locked (except bathrooms).
Visitors: • Please inform us of any daytime visitors (i.e. by message). • Should you wish to have an additional guest stay in the room, please ask for prior approval and note that a €15 fee per night will be collected (max. 4 nights).
Heating: • There is a global energy crisis. The house is heated at 21° C during 7-9 AM and 7-10 PM. The rest of the time, the temperature is kept at 19° C in the house. • If you plan to telework during the day (in winter) please ensure warm indoor clothing.
Bathroom: • The bathroom has a shower and a toilet, and a private sink. • The world is running out of fresh water, so let’s keep our shower times to a minimum. • After every shower, please rinse the shower with cold water. This is very important to clear the water pipes and ensure hot water stays available. • Please leave the bathroom (especially the toilet) as clean as you found it. • Every guest is responsible for his/her own toilet paper and own soap. • There is an iron and ironing board in the bathroom at your disposal. Please take care to unplug the iron after every use and return it to the bathroom.
Kitchen: • A kitchen is at your disposal. Feel free to use the utensils, and appliances at your convenience. • Please clean the kitchen, microwave, and utensils after every use. • Please keep the fridge clean.
Trash: • There is no communal trash bin. Every room has its own bin. Please empty your bin VERY regularly. Trash can be disposed in the small green metallic public bins at both ends of the street (left towards Sq. Larousse and right towards Av. Brugmann). • Recycling is also possible: - White bags are for general trash. - Yellow bags – for paper and cardboard. - Blue bags – metals/aluminum and plastics. - Glass should be put in the glass bulbs (100m on the left as you exit the house). • Garbage trucks come every Sunday evenings (WHITE and BLUE bags) and Wednesday evenings (WHITE and YELLOW bags). You must place your bags outside the house door after 5 pm (on Sunday and Wednesday) • Bags can be bought in any supermarket.

Local Area • The house is in the heart of the lively Châtelain and Saint-Gilles areas. • There is a vast array of boutiques, restaurants, bars, and cafés within walking distance. • All shops for basic necessities can be found at “Ma Campagne” (200 m away): grocery shop, bakery, pharmacy, bank, laundromat, library, etc.
Transport • There is excellent public transport links from the house towards : - EU Quarters: Bus n°54 from Ma Campagne (direct) - ULB University: Tram n°3/4 from Albert Station (direct) - City-centre: Tram n°3/4 from Albert Station, or n°92 from Ma Campagne (direct) - Flagey: Tram n°81 from Moris (direct)
Laundry • There is a laundromat 300 m away from the house. “Quality Wash” is on Chaussée de Waterloo 349 It is open every day of the week between 7 am and 10 pm.
Check-out • We kindly ask that you check out of the house before 12:00, so that we have time to prepare the room for the following guests. • Please empty the room of all your belongings, and place your house key on your desk. • We will also do a joint run-through of the room to ensure any damage is documented. • Should any postal mail arrive at the house following your departure, please note that it will be sent back to the sender.
